Gen. Ishfaq Nadeem hails from Nila (Chakwal). He was born in the family of highly respected Ahmed Khan Qureshi, who was on the engineering side of Radio Pakistan until his retirement.

Gen Ishfaq Nadeem was Director General Military Operations (DG MO) at the time of promotion. He was replaced by Maj-Gen Aamer Riaz.

Following the tradition of Pakistan Army, Gen Raheel has begun to take farewell visits, and as per TNT correspondent from Islamabad, Prime Minister House has already started preparations for a befitting sendoff.

On 27 November 2013, Sharif was appointed as the 15th Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and will retire as Chief of Army Staff Pakistan in November 2016.

As the available information suggest, Lieutenant General Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad will be the 16th Chief of Army Staff, replacing General Raheel Sharif.

General Ishfaq Nadeem is currently serving as Corps Commander of 2 Corps.
