Free Education top of 10 occupied Kashmir students to get free education, accommodation at Punjab University. Punjab Higher Education Department will distribute more than 50,000 scholarships in 2017, while the total value of Punjab Endowment Fund for Education will reach 11 billion Rs.The Provincial Minister of Higher Education Begum Zakia Shahnawaz chaired a meeting on Tuesday on the distribution of scholarships among the poor and talented students in 9 regional headquarters under the hood for Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF).
Vice Chairman Punjab Education Endowment Fund Dr. Amjad Saqib gave updates on the program of the Campaign for Punjab Education Endowment Fund 2016.At the meeting, he said the main objective of the program was talented applicants from low-income families in disadvantaged regions who can not continue their studies due to financial problems. He said PEEF reach these students and offer them the opportunity to benefit from the revolutionary program of the provincial government. Applicants Gilgit, FATA, Azad Kashmir and Balochistan could also benefit from it, he added.
Dr. Saqib also said HED provide 150,000 scholarships worth Rs7.45 million through June 2016. He said the Higher Education Department Punjab was evolving information campaigns on the program in the public domain and applicants, their parents, teachers, sponsors, political leaders, civil society and mediamen also be involved in these campaigns.
The provincial Minister Zakia Shahnawaz while giving approval to program the order to send your resume as soon as possible for the head of government. He said this scholarship distribution program will definitely help talented students to complete their education.She also said that this program will also help in reducing poverty.
Provincial Secretary of Higher Education Department, Captain (R) Dr. Naseem Nawaz, Additional DIG Operations Shahzada Sultan, Special Secretary Higher Education Tahir Yousaf, Dr. Kamran Shamas, undersecretary of Information Management and Pervaiz Hina Undersecretary of Education superior Irtiza Naqvi were present at the meeting.Almost 10 students of occupied Kashmir will be able to get free education as well as accommodation at University of the Punjab.
The Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Mujahid Kamran has announced that the students will be given the opportunity from the new academic session starting in September-October 2017.Curfew in occupied Kashmir has been in place for over 2 months.The suppression has destroyed the routine life in the valley as a result of which education process in schools, colleges as well as in universities has been affected badly.
